St. Obama, Pray For Us.

Maundy Thursday Islamic Outreach, Part XL

From an earlier post on this blog:

Pope Francis spoke to the diplomatic corps and amongst other things, said, "Hence it is important to intensify dialogue among the various religions, and I am thinking particularly of dialogue with Islam."

UPDATE....

ROME - Pope Francis washed the feet of 12 disabled and elderly people Thursday - women and non-Catholics among them - in a pre-Easter ritual designed to show his willingness to serve others like a "slave."
Francis' decision in 2013 to perform the Holy Thursday ritual on women and Muslim inmates at a juvenile detention center helped define his rule-breaking papacy just two weeks after his election.

In return, the gratified Muslim community in Egypt responded:

Young Christian women are facing a greater risk of being kidnapped by extremists, tortured, and even forced to convert to Islam since the Arab Spring ended in 2011.
It has been estimated by the ICC and other watchdog groups in the region that there have been 500 reported cases of young women being attacked by Muslim men since 2011, but unreported cases could send the figure much higher. The girls are often assaulted, raped, kidnapped, forced to change their faith and sometimes killed, the ICC said.

MAUNDY THURSDAY UPDATE!

The ultra-Cathoic Representative from California, Nancy Pelosi took time out of her busy schedule promoting Obamacare and abortion to be Christlike. The SF Gate reports:

To "honor the dignity and work of immigrants," Democrat House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi  helps Bishop Marc Andrus wash the feet of two children Thursday.... Pelosi also used the occasion to talk about passing HR15 - bipartisan immigration legislation that her office says would "reduce the deficit by nearly $1 trillion, secure our borders, unite our families, protect our workers and provide an earned pathway to citizenship."
Nothing says "Catholic" like using a religious ceremony to promote a misguided political view. But wait! Who is "Bishop" Marc Andrus? Oh...he's an Episcopalian! Sayeth he,

"The recognition of the dignity and rights, within civil society and the Church of lesbian, bisexual, gay and transgendered people, and of women are as core to our proclamation of the Gospel as our solidarity with the poor, with victims of violence and political oppression, and with the Earth," the Episcopal bishop continued in his missive greeting his new religious counterpart highlighting the third Millennium Development Goals which calls for "promoting gender equality and empowering women."

Islamic Outreach, Part XXXIX

From an earlier post on this blog:

Pope Francis spoke to the diplomatic corps and amongst other things, said, "Hence it is important to intensify dialogue among the various religions, and I am thinking particularly of dialogue with Islam."

MEANWHILE.... the Associated Press reports:

MAIDUGURI, Nigeria — Suspected Islamic extremists abducted about 100 female students from a school in northeast Nigeria before dawn Tuesday, but some of the teens managed to escape from the back of an open truck, officials said.

Islamic extremists have been abducting girls to use as cooks and sex slaves.

Those farm workers don't look totally convinced....

SO this got me wondering what a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur looked like, and I found this fantastic site.

Turns out they look like this:
And here are the Sisters of St. Joseph who taught me from 4th - 8th grade:

Bishop of Bling, American Edition

There is something in the liberal mindset that allows them to PREACH a good game about taking care of the poor while actually doing nothing about it. That is the responsibility of some one else, or better yet - the government.

Remember the stink raised by this?

Bishop Edward K. Braxton of Belleville, Ill., accused of misusing money from two special funds, apologized Jan. 22 and said the questionable expenditures will be covered by an anonymous donor.
At issue were the bishop’s purchases last year of a conference table and chairs for a meeting room at the chancery at a cost of $10,100, and five sets of vestments bought for the Cathedral of St. Peter at a cost of about $8,000. For the former, he used money from a special ministries fund, and for the latter, money earmarked for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, a pontifical missionary society.

Well, he's got NOTHING on his predecessor!

A Georgia bishop has apologized for building a $2.2 million home using donated money earmarked for religious and charitable use.
Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory build the mansion on property donated to the church by Joseph Mitchell, the heir of “Gone with the Wind” author Margaret Mitchell’s fortune. Wilton tore down the building on the property and built a much larger house.

The Senator Gets Cross-Checked

A pro-life activist recently emailed Bishop Thomas J. Paprocki of Springfield, Ill., regarding pro-abortion "Catholic" U.S. Senator Dick Durbin, D-Ill.

Bishop Paprocki responded:

Dear Mr. [name redacted], Senator Durbin was informed several years ago by his pastor at Blessed Sacrament Parish here in Springfield that he was not permitted to receive Holy Communion per canon 915 of the Code of Canon Law. My predecessor upheld that decision and it remains in effect. It is my understanding that the senator is complying with that decision here in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois.

Islamic Outreach, Part XXXVIII

From an earlier post on this blog:

Pope Francis spoke to the diplomatic corps and amongst other things, said, "Hence it is important to intensify dialogue among the various religions, and I am thinking particularly of dialogue with Islam."

Meanwhile... from the Detroit Free Press:

Some Muslim parents are concerned about public schools in Dearborn handing out flyers to all students advertising an Easter egg hunt, saying it violates the principle of church and state separation.
A flyer headlined “Eggstravaganza!” was given to students this week at three elementary schools in the Dearborn Public Schools district, which has a substantial number of Muslim students. The flyer described an April 12 event at Cherry Hill Presbyterian Church in Dearborn featuring an egg hunt, relay race, and egg toss. It asked students to RSVP “to secure your free spot” and included images of eggs and a bunny.

Because nothing says religious oppression like...
Especially when he is handing out....
