The Department of Justice Feast of St. Joseph Cafasso, June 23
St. Joseph Cafasso is one of the "social Saints" of Turin (with Giuseppe Benedetto Cottolengo, John Bosco, Maria Domenica Mazzarello, and Leonardo Murialdo), so named because of their work with poor, dispossessed, and sometimes criminal elements of Turin during the "Industrial Revolution". St. Joseph is called the "Priest of the Gallows" and is patron saint of prison chaplains, captives, imprisoned people and prisoners.
