We Salute You, Diocese of El Paso, Texas!

The Roman Catholic Diocese of El Paso, established in 1914, includes 10 counties in far West Texas covering 26,686 square miles. The Catholic population served by the Diocese is 656,035 (of 811,739). The Diocese is made up of 55 parishes, 20 missions, and 17 ministries. The ministries serve the unique multicultural, multilingual needs of the Diocese.

 The Diocese of El Paso is home to three of the oldest historic missions in the United States: Ysleta Mission, Socorro Mission and San Elizario Missions.  All three missions are Texas Historic Sites, included in the National Register of Historic Places, and certified by the National Parks Service as part of El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro. The missions are owned and operated by the Diocese of El Paso and managed by a parish administrator.



T he oldest of the El Paso mission churches is the Ysleta Mission, located in the community of Ysleta within the city limits of El Paso and part of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish. The parish was established in 1682 and the mission completed in 1692.

They have a new bishop! The Most Reverend Mark Seitz will be installed om July 9th. Born in Milwaukee, he was most recently the Auxiliary Bishop of Dallas.
