Today I Learned.....

I was reading a story about the awful psychological  ordeal that a student, Damien Legacy, is going through at George Washington University. Turns out that Father Greg Shaffer, the chaplain of the Newman Center, "is faithful to the Church’s teaching on human sexuality and the dignity of the human person." In other words, he thinks gay marriages are wrong. Mr. Legacy thinks that GWU should de-fund the Newman Center and get rid of Father Greg.

Two things I learned:

1) The Newman Center at George Washington University is currently preparing FOUR men for the seminary.

2) One of the commentators says that Mr. Legacy is an ordained priest in the North American Old Catholic Church. According to Wikipedia, they are unaffiliated with the Roman Catholic Church, there are 22 parishes nationwide, and "This branch of Catholicism also ordains bisexual people, divorced people, gay, lesbian, married people, transgender people, and women."

3) The NAOCC think Father Mychal Judge is a saint, and even have a St. Mychal Judge church! Mychal Judge was a self admitted gay man, abstinent, and a Jesuit priest. He died in the World Trade Center on 9/11.

Here's the "church" in Houston, Texas:
