Boston, MA––A Harvard University student group plans to host a reenactment of a Satanic Praise and Worship Service on campus Monday night, and a former pastor at a Boston Methodist church says they are tampering with evil.
The plan has drawn criticism from Boston Methodist officials, who expressed “deep sadness and strong opposition” to the plan.
The reservation-only event Friday night is scheduled to be held at the Queen’s Head Pub at Harvard’s Memorial Hall, according to a flyer provided by the student group.
The Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club said in a statement posted online that it planned to host a historical reenactment of a Black Praise and Worship Service, including the desecration of a 16 oz bottle of Welch’s grape juice, as well as a loaf of Wonder Bread.
Pastor of United Methodist Church Reverend Ron Duncan said the students would be desecrating the “true symbol of the Lord”, and thereby “symbolically condemning their souls.” “The fact is that we believe that Christ is truly present in the Wonder Bread and in the Welch’s…and by truly present, I mean, in the a a truly symbolic way. Does that makes sense?” Duncan told EOTT as a tear slid down his cheek, a symbol, as he put it, of his grief.
