Did I Mention I Got a "B" in Logic?

Five members of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Migration will travel to Washington on May 29 and urge members of the House of Representatives to pass immigration reform legislation.
Referring to a recent Mass celebrated at the Mexican border, Auxiliary Bishop Eusebio Elizondo of Seattle said that “our trip to the border opened our eyes, even more than previously, to the human tragedies generated by our immigration system.”
“The only real solution to this broken system is action by Congress,” he added. “We need a debate and vote on this issue. Inaction is equivalent to supporting the status quo, which Americans agree needs to be changed.”
So this is America's fault? People are not coming to the United States to GET AWAY from anything? Nothing? I don't understand the logic.
