Bishops warn against changes in immigration bill that could kill it
SAN DIEGO (CNS) -- Three bishops weighed in on the ongoing congressional debate on immigration reform legislation June 10, warning against amending a Senate bill in ways that would block the path to legalization for undocumented (by which he means illegal) immigrants.
"Each day in our parishes, social service programs, hospitals and schools, we witness the human consequences of a broken immigration system,” said Los Angeles Archbishop Jose H. Gomez, chairman of the USCCB's Committee on Migration. "Families are separated, migrant workers are exploited, and our fellow human beings die in the desert."
Sorry to disagree with you, Archbishop Gomez, but I think you are wrong. Our "social services, hospitals, and schools" are being overwhelmed by large numbers people who have broken the law to get here. The system is "broken" because so many are willing to ignore the law. I would also point out that Mexico is 92% Catholic - how did it become a place where some many want to leave?
I also also would like to point out this little tidbit:
"Hispanic Catholics were far more likely to favor Obama - by 76 percent to 23 percent." These are CATHOLICS who are willing to vote for the most pro-abortion President EVER.
