India's government has given a one-year visa to a Catholic nun who had faced expulsion from the country after serving for 44 years working with lepers, the AsiaNews service reports.
Sister Bertilla Capra, a member of the Missionaries of the
Immaculate, had been told that she would be required to leave India when
her current visa expired. But the government relented and granted her a
visa that will be valid until November of this year. She has been told
that she will now need to renew her visa each year.
